Head of Internal Communications

Home based (with EU travel)

Working with senior managers, the Head of Internal Communications will be responsible for establishing an internal communications strategy for LKQ Europe. Responsible for clear and consistent messaging across all internal channels and strong colleague engagement, the Head of Internal Communications will manage the roll-out of internal communication initiatives across all regions and markets in the LKQ family.

Key Responsibilities

• Establishing an internal communications strategy in cooperation with senior managers
• Ensuring organizational initiatives and projects are successfully communicated to employees and stakeholders
• Planning, editing and writing content for a variety of internal communications mediums, such as a staff intranet, monthly magazine/regular email bulletin. You may also be required to work on the layout of content
• Keeping clients abreast of progress and answering their questions
• Storyboarding or translating ideas to agencies and the creative team of Art Directors and Designers
• Using social media to communicate with staff internally
• Managing an internal Communications Officer
• Delivering presentations at organizational events
• Drafting messages or scripts from senior executives for presentation to employees in written or spoken form
• Ensuring internal communications messages are consistent across all mediums and for different departments of the organization
• Ensuring internal communications messages are consistent with external communication messages.

Required Skills & Experience

• University degree with a specialisation in communications, public relations, marketing, journalism and/or business
• Experience in working in a communications team, especially internal communications for an international organisation
• Exceptional written English skills are essential, another European language would be beneficial
• Familiarity with information technology, especially digital and video means of communication, is essential
• General journalistic or content marketing experience is beneficial
• Track record in management of complex projects and advising senior managers is also looked upon favorably
• Excellent writing, editing and proofreading skills as well as the journalistic ability to source stories from employees
• Sensitivity to the organisation’s goals and values and the ability to relay them to employees
• Good interpersonal and relationship-building skills in order to work with communications and HR departments
• Confidence to deal with senior executives and explain communications techniques to them
• Creative ability to devise communications strategies
• Experience of writing for a variety of different audiences is also desired.
