Heritage

Euro Car Parts Ltd was founded in 1978 by Sukhpal Singh Ahluwalia, a refugee who fled Uganda’s Amin Regime for the UK with his family. At the age of 18 Sukhpal raised £5,000 with help from his Father and the bank and set up a car parts shop in North London. Since then the business has seen typical annual growth of 25% and was sold to LKQ Corporation in October 2011 for £280 million. Sukhpal remains an active member of the business having operated as Executive Chairman for the UK business and has more recently joined the main LKQ board in the States as Executive Director. His entrepreneurial flair, passion, high energy, resilience, tenacity and a “will to win” are still intrinsic to the culture of the business.

Experience / Duties:

Key Accountabilities:

Driving Sales & Margin Performance:

o Ensure the branch team are fully aligned and driving sales and margin performance through strong connectivity, data analysis and supporting all marketing activity effectively, including web customers

 

Stock Control:

o Ensure all stock management procedures are fully in place to underpin accuracy and deliver exemplary customer service

o Regularly review to ensure all stock controls are in place

 

Fleet Management:

o Ensure fleet usage is maximised to deliver exemplary customer service

o Maximising this asset and set high expectations

o Regularly review to ensure all fleet controls are in place

 

Improving Customer Connectivity & Relationships

o Develop a visit routine to connect with key IMT & National Account customers and demonstrate partnerships that support mutual growth

o Lead a branch culture where customers are seen as the ‘number one priority’

o Ensure all customer complaints are dealt with fairly and equitably

o Ensure Euro Car Parts have the premier reputation for service in your locality / town

o Engage the team to understand delivery of excellent customer service will lead to sustainable branch performance and therefore customers are our number one priority

Succession Planning & Recruitment:

o Ensure a comprehensive succession plan is in place for all roles

o Ensure a multi skilling programme is in place to fulfil future succession starting with Banked Hour colleagues

o Support recruitment with timely decisions and recruit for attitude above all else

 

Planning, Organising & Prioritising:

o Ensure clear short term (daily) and medium term (monthly) plans are in place and documented to maximise branch profitability.

o Develop and deliver an annual plan covering all critical dates (e.g. MOT seasons, religious celebrations etc.) considering contingencies

o Ensure the number one priorities are always sales and customer service levels

 

HASAW / Staff Welfare / HR:

o Ensure all legal responsibilities are completed in line with company expectations

o Take nothing for granted check it and challenge daily (e.g. fire doors propped open / blocked etc.)

o Support all HASAW initiatives e.g. First Aid Training

o Ensure the staff areas are always clean and hygienic and fully furnished with correct equipment and consumables

o Manage all colleague issues with empathy and discretion involving HR support where necessary

 

Cost Control:

o Manage all costs like a business owner

o Challenge every cost on the P&L to see where you can gain traction and improve profitability

o Coach the team to understand the relationship between sales and cost management will maximise profitability

 

Performance Management:

o Set clear, SMART and stretching goals and measure performance accordingly

o Hold your management team to account and ensure they hold their direct reports to account as well

o Recognise and praise high performance and make it specific and meaningful 

 
Work Hours:

50.33 hours per week Monday to Friday from 8am - 6pm and alternate Saturdays from 8am - 4pm
